Amaro Santoni is a high quality liqueur made from 34 herbs, inspired by one of Gabriello Santoni's most intimate and personal recipes from 1961. A product made exclusively from the infusion of natural ingredients. A new way of drinking that goes beyond the classic concept of an after-dinner bitter and meets the tastes of an international clientele. Its taste is characterized by citrus notes, olive leaves, iris flowers and, above all, rhubarb.
AMARO SANTONI, THE APERITIF BORN IN FLORENCE
The history of Tuscany over the last six centuries has inspired the "Gusto Italiano" we know today. In the years of the Dolce Vita, Gabriello Santoni created this unique composition of precious and iconic botanicals. Rhubarb root, iris flowers and olive leaves are just some of the ingredients that create a delicious and modern bittersweet aperitif.
34 unique botanicals
Chinese rhubarb, iris blossom, olive leaf, rose, elderflower, ginseng, pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, clove, mint, sweet orange, bitter orange, caraway, artichoke, coriander, lemon balm, sage, angelica root, rose hip, linden, Roman wormwood, China, lavender, karkade, cinnamon cassia, galangal, meadowfoam, laburnum, gentian, juniper, ginger, laurel & wild fennel combine to create a masterful composition that is second to none.
From Asia to the West
The true origins of rheum palmatum are purely Asian. Rhubarb is native to the plateaus and mountainous regions of Central Asia, the Caucasus, Siberia, Tibet, Mongolia and China, whose peoples knew and used it as early as 2700 years before Christ.
China's thousands of years of isolation meant that rhubarb was virtually unknown to the world until trade with the East began with Marco Polo in the mid-1200s.
But it was not until around 1500 that European and Italian botanists were able to observe and literally touch the rhubarb plants. Many properties and uses were immediately attributed to them.
